The need of law enforcement in Web 2.0

Law enforcement broadly refers to any system by which some members of society act in an organized manner to promote adherance to the law by discovering and punishing persons who violate the rules and norms governing that society.

Those who directly engage in patrols or surveillance to dissuade and discover criminal activity, and those who investigate crimes and apprehend offenders.[1]

Foundational Elements needed:

  • Data sharing and communications
  • International Law
  • Dedicated Internet Law Enforcement Agency
  • Tools, technology and methods to identify and catch criminals
  • Agile Internet police force with powers
  • Responsive to crime in “real time”
  • Specialized tool sets and resources to tackle anonymity, encryption, and geographical boundaries
